Guess What....

Hello Blog Friends!!

SO MUCH has happened since my last post! Here's what happened....

It was beautiful Halloween night. I am the Youth, Teen & Family Director at the local YMCA and on Halloween I was in charge of organizing a free, family event for the community, the Trunk or Treat Fall Festival. Dustin was all bummed I was going to have to work on Halloween night and told me that he was really excited to spend Halloween night at home handing out candy and then going out to dinner. I told him that was fine, we could do that after the event. I also told him he could come to the Trunk or Treat and even bring Chloe girl, as pets were welcome to come to the Trunk or Treat. He kept telling me he would probably just stay home and wait for me to come home.

My best friend, Liz, her husband, Peter, and their 1 year old daughter Brooklyn had planned to come out for the event. At about 4:30 PM that day Dustin called me to tell me that he was going to try and come to the event and even going to put Chloe in her Halloween costume and bring her with him. I was so happy to hear that! They all came out and stayed awhile. But Dustin was adamant that Brooklyn still needed to come to our house later that night to trick or treat before we could go to dinner.

After the Trunk or Treat at the Y I headed home and called Liz to tell her they could head over to trick or treat in 20 minutes or so. I then called Dustin to tell him I was on my way home and Liz and Peter would be coming over soon. He told me that when they got there he was going to go outside so he could get a “cute picture of her trick or treating at our house so that we could give the picture to Liz and Peter for Christmas." I didn't think anything of it and told him that was fine.

When I got home I noticed a vase of pink roses on the kitchen table. Dustin is really good at buying me flowers for no reason, but he had just sent flowers in a pumpkin to work earlier in the week and I was already really happy and excited that he had come to the Trunk or Treat and that he brought Chloe. The pink roses were just the icing on the cake and when I saw them I smiled and said to Dustin, "seesh did you cheat on me or something? You've earned a lot of boyfriend points this week!!" I was kindding but still he just did a great job of making my week and Halloween awesome!

I went and hugged Dustin and sat with him on the couch while we waited for Liz, Peter and Brooklyn. As they drove up, Dustin went outside to “take the picture” while I grabbed the goodiebag I had put together for Brooklyn. I heard the doorbell ring. When I walked to the door to answer she was there, I didn’t realize at first Dustin was holding her, but I did notice that she was wearing areally pretty white dress. I was confused because at the Trunk or Treat shewas dressed as a ladybug so I looked and said, “What happened to her ladybug outfit?”

It was then I realized Dustin was holding her, I looked at him and he said, “She’s a flower girl,” and I was still kind of confused and he said it again, "Babe, she's a flower girl." Before I knew it Dustin got down on one knee and said, “Babe, will you marry me?”

I was so shocked, even though we'd been talking about getting engaged, because I seriously was not expecting it to happen on Halloween night. I was so excited and surprised and said, “Is this for real? Is this the moment?” and Dustin smiled and said, “Yes, it’s the moment, I love you, will you marry me?” and I screamed “YES!”

The wholething happened on my front porch! Liz was taking pictures and Peter filmed the whole thing! I did not react the way I thought I would because I was so not expecting it to happen that night. In fact earlier at the Y one of my former staff had asked me, "so when are you getting engaged?" and I had said, "Probably not until way after Thanksgiving!" Little did I know it would happen that night. Needless to say I am SO HAPPY that it did. It was one of the best moments of my life and I cannot wait to marry Dustin and spend the rest of my life as his wife!!

We are getting married in 56 days on March 31, 2012, exactly 5 months for the day we got engaged!!
